They wanted me to install their home security. It’s a live person on the other end, but they use prerecorded messages and some text to words software. They like to call me, despite numerous times telling them I’m not interested. So today I just straight up told them my house burned down.
“Would you be interested in a home security system?”
“Well, my house burned down....”
“Well, if you had one, would you use it?”
“Unless you want to watch a bunch of ashes, I don’t see a point.”
Spent the next couple of minutes trying not to laugh while I informed them that I am indeed the home owner, my house no longer exists, and I don’t need a security system. Next time I’m asking if it prevents zombies from attacking.

I often wondered if these people even listened. Apparently not. I guess only thing else you could tell them is you don’t own the house.

I’ve told them that before, they keep calling. And there’s no obvious way to opt out of the calls, so I’m running with this idea of giving weird answers.
I should ask them if the system detects ghosts. Or if the moat is optional.

Sounds kind of like the water heater salesmen I get around this time. Insisting they have to inspect my tank and furnace for efficiency. He is not from the company I rent my tank from, and I own the furnace outright, ass holes trying to fleece people, I wouldn’t let him in, but he was adamant on entering my house, even walked in and took his boots off. I got him out of my house, and then he started telling me its the law, and they will keep coming back. I told the last guy if he has to check it, to bring to police, and slammed the door in his face. He just stood there ringing the bell. Have not seen him yet

I was getting a bunch of auto warranty calls, I use to ask them if it covered headlight fluid. Then tell them I didn’t have a car, and their records indicating I do are incorrect.

There’s only two types of moats ill accept: one with piranhas and gators, the other being sharks with lasers on their head. Possibly a third type if it involves pirates in some way.

I should ask them a bunch of mundane questions. “Should I leave bricks outside my windows? What about a axe by the door? No? Well, is it a good idea to take my keys to the front door so I don’t forget them?”

i got one wanting to sell me a extended warranty. They couldn;t tell me what kind of car I had so I told then it was a 550 marranello.
phone dope: ‘O we dont offer warranties on Ferraris do you have another vehicle?
Me: yea I have a 40' boat.
phone dope: we only offer warranties on things on the road’
Me: the boats on a trailer on the road in front of my house, warranty my boat.

If it is an automated voice like you describe (just make it answer something unrelated to security systems. If it doesn’t, or it even sounds like a machine ) you can report it on the FTC (maybe the FCC, google it) website. Idk if/ when they will do something, but automated telemarketing is a federal offense.
